MidnitePixel (Self) — Unpaid/Personal Projects
[ 2015 – Current ]
Overview:
I started creating video-game focused artwork around 2015, the first medium I worked with was voxel after stumbling upon the program MagicaVoxel which sparked my fascination with restricted art forms such as low-poly, pixel art, etc. My longstanding love of Minecraft and interest in voxel lead me down the path of Minecraft content creation and where I am today!
Fun Fact: I mainly started voxel art for the purpose of creating album/song covers for my LoFi music back in 2015!
Projects:
[ Ludum Dare 51 ] Lost DepthsI, and a team of 5 others, created a game for the
Ludum Dare Game Jam where we had just 48 hours to complete a game that incorporated the prompt: “Every 10 Seconds”. We went with a submarine game in which your visuals were all but useless however, every 10 seconds your radar would ping surrounding objects. Your objective was to explore an underwater cavern while avoiding detection from a gigantic, deep-sea eel. I was the Vehicle, Character, and UI designer for our team.
Lost Depths placed top 39%
Overall.
[ Web Design/Dev ] Midnitepixel.art
In early 2024 I wasn’t content with the features and allowed file types/sizes found on most available sites for art portfolios. I decided to use some past experience in web design, knowledge of game UI, and WordPress and make a portfolio site myself. It’s been a learning expirence, and is still an active project with planned features, but I think it’s coming along quite well!
[ Minecraft Bedrock Add-On ] MidnitePixel’s Ferrets
A free add-on/mod I created for Bedrock that adds pet ferrets with player selected attack modes and dynamic behaviors such as hunting prey and collecting drops. Planned features include tracking entities over distance, tricks/play, idle activities, and potentially cosmetics.
[ Minecraft Resourcepack ] Soft N’ Simple
SnS is a resourcepack for Minecraft Bedrock created as both a tech-test to push the boundaries with Bedrock environmental design and a free projects with no deadlines so I could work on it slowly and appeal directly to player’s requests without needing to consider marketability. It features randomized entity and block textures, early attempts at block remodeling, and various QoL fixes to Minecraft’s UI readability.
